The American Directional Driller® can now measure bottom hole assembly equipment up to 40 feet with this specially designed tape measure. This heavy-duty 40-foot tape measure is unmatched in the marketplace, making it uniquely useful to the general tape measure buyer. With three measurement scales on an extra-wide blade, this tape measure offers exceptional versatility.

The top side of the blade features both the engineering scale (decimal feet) and the imperial scale (inches/feet), while the reverse side displays the metric scale for expat or international mobile assignments. The metric scale shows 12.2 meters, which is equivalent to 1,220 centimeters, with highlighted markings every decimeter and meter. The smallest measurement unit shown is 100ths of feet, 16ths of inches, and 1 millimeter.

Classified as a Class II tape measure, this product boasts fast and efficient retraction at longer lengths and more reserved retraction at shorter lengths, making it optimized for both short and long extensions. Users are advised to use the brake liberally if they do not handle large tapes often, as this will help extend the life of the tape.

The engineering scale, which occupies two-thirds of the track width, will be particularly appreciated by American directional drillers. The remaining one-third of the track width displays the imperial inches and feet, with the convenient feature of showing the total inches rather than restarting the inch marks every foot length.

Designed for maximum durability and grip at the rig site, the tape measure's ABS plastic housing is covered in a grip-enhancing black rubber jacket. To prolong the life of the tape, it is recommended to keep it clean and dry. While it may be tempting, users are advised against throwing the tape measure off the 25-foot high drill floor.

The end of the tape features a double claw for grabbing onto the drill pipe shoulder, with no magnets in the claw as they are generally forbidden at the rig site.
